Body Armor is equipment in Military Conflict: Vietnam that reduces some incoming damage while worn. It appears as two side-specific variants: the U.S. M69 Flak Vest and the VC ChiCom Body Armor.
In-Game Function
Body armor reduces incoming damage by absorbing a percentage of the hit. Explosive damage is reduced by 30% across all body regions. Shotguns and the QSPR are reduced by 20% on torso hits. All other weapons are reduced by 10% on torso hits.
HISTORY
Soldiers have used protective armor in many forms across history, from rigid metal armor to modern textile and plate systems. In twentieth-century warfare, body armor increasingly focused on reducing wounds from fragments produced by artillery, grenades, mines, and bombs. This kind of protection was often called a flak jacket or fragmentation vest.
By the Vietnam War, body armor was useful but limited. It could help protect against fragments and some battlefield hazards, but it was heavy, hot, and generally not equivalent to modern rifle-rated armor.
